Level 3 VTCT-Accredited Reflexology Training Course in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Reflexology is the most popular treatment we offer in our holistic practise. It’s a fascinating therapy that involves stimulating the nerves on the feet or hands (and sometimes ears!). The nerves that are stimulated send a message to corresponding parts of the body. There are numerous theories as to how Reflexology works. Some theorists say that crystal deposits (waste from cells) settle around nerve endings and when these are cleared the body works more effectively. Other people believe that there are energy meridians in the body that make it function at its best and if the pathways are blocked wellbeing will be impaired.
Whatever the theory, there is plenty of anecdotal and some scientific research to show that Reflexology does have a positive effect on the body. Because of the benefits of reflexology, it is a wonderful therapy to be able to provide and a job as a Reflexologist is a very rewarding one.
Training to become a reflexologist is not a quick and easy task. A respected Reflexology course will be at level 3 standard and will require a learner to partake in 100 practice treatments as a minimum. There are other elements that must also be studied at this level. Anatomy and physiology and business practice are two important subjects that are covered on any professionally accredited training course.
When choosing training provision it is important to know what to look for. Here’s our checklist to look out for:
- Level 3
- Accredited by a well known and long standing Awarding Body, e.g. VTCT or ITEC
- Stipulates the need for 100 case study treatments
- Includes business studies
- Face-to-Face training with experienced tutors
- Learning over time to allow development of skills and knowledge
- Recognised qualification with professional bodies, e.g. Federation of Holistic Therapists

Here’s what Sarah said about her reflexology training with Cheltenham School of Complementary Therapy & Beauty:
I cannot recommend the college and Kerry Baxter’s tutoring more highly. I’m sure there are colleges all over the country “churning out” qualified therapists on a regular basis. But if you want to be taught uncompromising professionalism, meticulous standards and the highest quality and understanding of treatments, all in a friendly and supportive environment…..then you need to train here. It’s hard work but it’s a journey that will leave you feeling proud of your achievement and unwilling to accept that your course is over……..so you’ll always be looking to book your next one!!
