Pregnancy Massage Training Course

It is usually advised that if you are a massage therapist and you wish to include massaging pregnant ladies in your business, that you undertake specialist pregnancy massage training.

A course in maternity massage should give you a good understanding of what a lady’s body goes through throughout pregnancy, including how posture changes, hormonal influences on the body and pathologies that could contra-indicate massage treatment or may require you to modify your treatment.

At Cheltenham School of Complementary Therapy & Beauty we believe that 2-days training is what we need to give you in order to teach the theory and to provide you with numerous practical application ideas.  Pregnancy can be a nerve-racking as well as joyous time and it is our experience, from our own holistic practice in Cheltenham, that pregnant ladies seek out massage therapists with additional training.  As with non-pregnant clients, being able to provide alternative treatment positions and modifications is key. Knowledge and practise enables a trained pregnancy massage therapist to work safely, provide advice to the client and to develop a relationship of trust and understanding.

The 2-day Pregnancy Massage training course at Cheltenham School of Complementary Therapy & Beauty is accredited by the FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists).

On the Pregnancy Massage course you will expect to learn about:

  • Benefits of pregnancy massage
  • Trimesters of pregnancy
  • When to massage and when not to massage
  • A wide range of pathologies in pregnancy, some simple, some complex
  • Detailed explanation of pelvic girdle conditions and how they impact the pregnant body
  • Lymphatic work
  • Positioning the pregnant client in a variety of ways
  • How pregnancy affects muscles
  • Exercises in pregnancy
  • Massage techniques
  • Focus on massage movements to help the pregnant client

We are proud of our training and are pleased to have therapists travel to us from all areas of the UK.
