5 Reasons to Become a Massage Therapist
Massage therapy is a great choice if you are looking for a new career in the health and wellness industry. It is a rewarding career that offers stability, flexibility and more importantly, a sense of purpose. Here, we will be discussing the appealing benefits and why a career as a massage therapist may be ideal for you.
1. A Career You Can Start Quickly
Depending on the training school, you could qualify as a professional massage therapist in less than a year. You will want to choose a learning provider that offers plenty of hours of practical experience. This will ensure you will be job-ready with all the required skills to begin offering massage treatments right away.
2. Work Environment
From health clinics to the beach! Once qualified, you could choose to work in a variety of environments, either for yourself at home or apply for jobs abroad on cruise ships, hotels, in clinics and spas. For those drawn to exotic places, the world really is your oyster!
3. High Demand
The health and wellness industry is a fast growing industry with a steadily rise in demand for qualified massage therapists. New jobs are constantly being created as increasing number of people are seeking alternative methods to support their health with the ever growing healthcare dilemma. It has been predicted that by the end of 2023 the massage therapy industry will have grown by a further 20% with a large proportion of jobs being within hospital and clinic environments, offering complementary therapy to their patients.
4. Flexible Schedule
A large majority of massage therapists are self employed. Whether working full- time or part-time, massage therapists can set their own work hours and schedule appointments around personal obligations. This allows fantastic flexibility when juggling family and professional commitments.
5. A Role that is Enjoyable and Rewarding
The most rewarding part of the job is the huge positive impact you will have on peoples’ lives. Not only will you be helping those in pain or recovering from injury, but massage has the ability to restore emotional balance and reduce stress. With its peace-invoking atmosphere, surrounded by soft music and soothing smells, it really makes it a calming and relaxing experience for you and your clients. When clients walk away feeling good, it’s almost a guarantee that they will be back!
